As I perused the year’s newsletters, one word kept popping in my mind- GROWTH. As a successful singles ministry should be, we experienced a great deal of growth in 2000. Most importantly, the Lord’s church grew when Sandra Byrom, John Urias, and Tiffany Walker decided to become Christians. We are very happy about their decisions to give their lives to Christ. In the event you haven’t noticed the crowding at all of our activities, the Singles at Madison have experienced significant numerical growth this year with the following folks who have “officially” joined us: Keith Champion, Chad Maples, Shirley Patterson, Bertil Riis, Emily Sharpton, Greta Thompson, and Thomas Turner. On the other hand, we have those who have “outgrown” our group and moved into the married world—Gene, Stephanie, Elesha, and Glynda (ok, so she’s in Nashville, but she was a part of our group when she could). Of course, change and growth go hand in hand. Richard Carpenter accepted the challenge of being the editor-in-chief of our newsletter. He has done an excellent job and deserves many thanks for his work. (Applause) Last but not least, I believe we have all grown closer to each other because of the experiences in 2000: Martha’s 40th; Brian’s accident; Shirley and Teresa’s combined 40th; the Luau at the Brodies; all of the monthly devos (Craig gets the award for most people per square inch); the retreat, especially The Hike; the yard sale (did you know people come when it is still dark?); the Cristy award to the Brodies at the Thanksgiving dinner; Wan’s 40th; and the semi-Progressive Dinner. Yes, I truly believe that we can declare 2000 as The Year of Growth. May we continue to grow in a way to please and glorify God in the years to come.
